You have to climb seven terraces and 82 rock-cut steps in order to reach the monument. Each of the terraces has beautiful patches of flowers of a variety of colours.

This 50-acre, 18th-century private garden of Mahé de Labourdonnais, the French governor of Mauritius, is the third oldest botanical garden in the world. Created by naturalist Pierre Poivre, it’s packed with more than 600 trees from around the world. In the centerpiece, a pond of giant Amazon waterlilies may be admired. The garden is home to dozens of varieties of palm trees, medicinal plants, sh ponds and other endemic plants such as the ebony. One can also admire the traditional architecture of the ‘Château Mon Plaisir’ built in the garden.
